The season unfolds
The guys have been home since Sunday night and they are really settling in. They eat dinner after the game, grab a quick breakfast before morning batting practice, and scarf down leftovers at lunch. Wednesday night, the game was early so we all sat down to dinner together. Isaac is the sun and the rest of us are lesser planets. He is such a presence. We asked them if there was anything they wanted to eat. He immediately asked for Kerry Gold Butter - to put in his coffee. Rhys was silent. I asked him if there was anything he wanted and he mumbled "bagels". Definitely a lesser planet. Isaac is the second of 8 kids who have all been home schooled. His mother must be a saint! The youngest is 6. No wonder he is the first to grab food - and lots of it. He ate 2 double cheeseburgers on Thursday. Luckily Dean had made lots so there were some for everyone.
Dalton has been in a batting slump which is breaking my heart. He is so intense and you can tell it is really bothering him. He works so hard and does everything right, and yet, he continues to strike out. Good thing Watson adores him and is ecstatic when he comes home. Things improved on Thursday. Last night he didn't play. Rhys was the starting pitcher and did well except he didn't get much support from the infielders. Too many errors.
Isaac was thinking of taking Nyquil on the next road trip since he has trouble sleeping in the same bed as "another dude". He also wants walk up music. 😎Of course.
Dean has been cooking up a storm: chicken Parmesan, spiral ham, marinated chicken thighs. These boys are eating good in the neighborhood. They are not big fans of baked goods, but I did make brownies which were awesome if I do say so myself. They make weird concoctions to drink with vinegar, sea salt, lemons and God knows what else.
They play tonight and tomorrow afternoon, then a day off, then a long road trip to Kelowna and Kelso. Back in town Sunday night.
