End of a 2 week home stand Just finished a 2 week home stand with 9 of the games being out of the league and they won all of those.  The Canadian teams were supposed to be in those slots, but since we can't travel to and from Canada due to the pandemic, they filled those slots with a lesser league.  The guys got some good experience.  Steven is becoming quite the closer and Javy is crushing it at 2nd base when his shoulder isn't acting up.  He is hitting well too, driving in the winning runs one night. Jack is struggling as catcher but when they had him play first base yesterday, he rocked it.   Last night we did pizza and it was quite the hoot.  They all know how to make pizza now.  Steven's parents were here and we all had a great time. Today I took them to Devil's Punch Bowl and they all jumped in from the cliff.  The weather here has been beastly hot which is unusual for June when it is normally cold and rainy.  It has been ov...
Feeling at Home I think these guys are feeling at home.  They are doing well with the dog and enjoy playing Chuck It with him.  Yesterday I took them up to Hurricane Ridge on their day off.  They seemed to enjoy that .  They are city boys as they asked if a chipmunk was a marmot.  And can they eat!  Last night Jack ate 3 stuffed burgers. We had a fire in the pit on the back patio and made s'mores which were a huge hit.  They really seemed to like sitting around the fire, shooting the shit with us.  Tonight it is chicken legs.  Will see how they scarf those down.  I bought a box of Drumsticks which should also be a hit.  Not so much the peanut butter cookies which are still sitting around.  Every year it is different.   This weekend, we will introduce them to the pizza oven.  Steven' parents are going to be here which will be nice.
Two Weeks In So we are at the 2 week mark.  The boys are definitely settling in.  They had a 3 game home stand, a 3 game road trip, another 3 game home stand and another 3 game road trip.  The last was to Walla Walla which is a grueling 7 hour drive in vans (the air conditioner on the team bus is broken).  The guys say they wind up eating at Safeway when they are on the road. When they were in WW, they asked the concession guy if he would save any leftover hotdogs for them. I can tell you from the way they devoured Dean's ribs last night, those boys can eat!  Tonight it is chili dogs.  That should make them smile. They are super nice guys (as always) and seem to get along well together.  They are actually quite good ball players and on Sunday, all 3 made it into the article in the paper.  Jack, the catcher has a rocket for an arm and is very accurate at hitting second base to put out stealers.  Javy can turn a mean double play at secon...
Season Four After a year off for the pandemic, we are back at being a Lefties host family.  We were guaranteed that they were all vaccinated and so are we, so I guess it is pretty safe.  This year we have 3 guys from soCal.  Steve is a relief pitcher who is going to start Cal Poly in the fall.  Jack is a catcher who is starting at UCLA in the fall and Javy is an infielder going into his junior year at St Marys.  The 2 young guys are 6'5" and 6'4" so they will be picking my cherries this year.  Jack was looking in one of the kitchen cabinets and I had to tell him that anything we would use regularly would be on the first 2 shelves, not the top one.  They are super nice but so young.  Javy is a little more seasoned.  We have dinner for them when they get home from their game.  Often, we are in bed before the game is over, so I leave them a note.  The other night, Dean made teriyaki chicken bowls. I left a note that the rice was in the...
