It Ain’t Over Til It’s Over

And just like that, it was over. The boys lost the last 7 games of the season to Corvallis and Victoria.  They put Jonny in as shortstop (WTF?) one game and starting pitcher for another.  He had a good outing in spite of the loss.  He and Falon did not make the trip to Victoria for the last 3 games of the season and left that Sunday morning for Las Vegas.  They did hike Storm King which whipped their young butts.  HAH!  Now they are back in Oklahoma.   I hope they had a good summer.  He is definitely someone to watch. Brad and Brandon did make the Victoria trip and Brandon hit a home run in one game and Brad hit a triple. Not enough to push the team to a win.  There were so few of the original kids at the end of the summer since so many go home for school, homesickness and injury. The End Is Near

Once again, I have been too long between posts.  First was the arrival of Diego, a catcher from Mill Creek who goes to school in Southern California.  Goofy kid, super friendly.  He was so happy to be on the Lefties as he was in a lower league where they had to drive to their games.  He was actually happy for the bus ride to Bellingham and Kelowna.  He stayed for 2 weeks, then left to go home. Nick left shortly after my last post.  His great aunt and uncle passed away, but I suspect it was homesickness and lack of playing time.  He and Diego were replaced by Brandon and Brad, teammates from Pacific University.  Brad is a second baseman and Brandon a catcher.  Brad can’t be taller than 5’6” and must have a 28” waist.  He has a mop of dark curly hair and is constantly buzzing.  He even eats standing up.  Today he Drove in the winning run in the bottom of the 10th.  The team was so excited, they threw him up in the air. ...
