Deja vu all over again
Well, it's happened. Isaac is leaving because he is not getting enough playing time. Same thing happened with the team last year and it makes me so sad. I want this team to succeed as this town needs them. I want these boys to succeed as I really like them It seems so random - Isaac is a good player, hard worker and very collegial. Why is he one of the ones that is not playing? I know I don't see what happens at practice, etc., but as I told Matt (the owner) last year: these guys give up their summers to play for him when they could be with their families, working a summer job or going on vacation. It is not fair - but then life is not fair. Still, it's got to hurt.
Rhyse is staying as they need pitchers. Dalton will leave at the end of July since he needs to be in Virginia in mid-August. They play the Wenatchee team July 31-August 2, in Wenatchee, so he will just go home and stay there. He is getting playing time, but is frustrated as well as he sees the unfairness all around him and can't do anything about it. I guess a lot of guys are going home this week.
I took them to the bus at 0500 last Tuesday for their long road trip to Kelowna. When I got up, Isaac was already shoveling in Cheerios. He chatted me up the whole way to the field while the other two were like zombies in the back seat. That boy is going to make one heckuva salesman some day!.
When I picked them up at 0230 Monday morning, he was still chatty. I had to take the coaches to their house a few blocks away from the field and told them I would only do so if they played my guys. Guess that didn't work. At least we may have some left over Kerry Gold Butter.
