The Days Dwindle Down to Precious Few.

The game last Thursday night was against a non-league team that has only won one game.  By the bottom of the 4th, we were looking flat and losing.  Rhyse had pitched a couple of innings the night before, so we didn't expect him to pitch.  We left.  And as we were headed to our car, we heard "Now pitching for the Lefties, Rhyse Frey".  Damn!  Anyway, he got the save and the boys came back in spades to win.  Then they went on the road and lost 3 in a row.  Rhyse didn't even go on this road trip. Then came the All Star Game.  Dalton went 0 for 2 and was hit by a pitch.  Nothing broken, but he was unable to hold his bat the rest of the game.  Dutton our catcher from last year was in the game, saw us and we chatted for a bit.  Unfortunately, I got called in for an emergency before the end of the game, so we couldn't visit afterwards.  He is such a sweetheart.  We will definitely watch him play for U of Portland next spring.
Then they went on the road.  Dalton has been sick the whole time with some crud that a number of the players picked up.  The owner has been in the hospital as well as the coach with it.  Rhyse ptiched last night for 3 innings, then injured his throwing arm.  He texted me, wanting to set up an MRI today.  Best I can do is get him in with a local orthopedic surgeon Tuesday so he can get the MRI authorized.  He has to go to Central Washington on Monday for orientation.  Dalton has been sleeping and chugging vitamin C and dragged himself out to the field for BP.  I told him if Isaac were still here, he would make up some hideous concoction for him to drink.  At least it made him laugh.
After this 3 day home stand, they go on the road for 3 days, then back for 3 days, then Dalton leaves.  Not sure what Rhyse is going to do.  Depends on what is going on with his elbow. This summer has flown by.
